Theresa Andersson performed a track from her
I the River EP, "Na Na Na", by using only a loop pedal to play all the instruments and vocals. You can view the video
here, if you haven't already, and joined the 600,000 plus wowed viewers. Listening to the track itself, I'd never imagine that it was a one person labor and better yet, recorded in a kitchen!
Born in a Swedish island of Gotland,
Theresa Andersson moved to New Orleans when she was 18 years old. Both of her backgrounds contributed to the unique sounds you can hear in her EP. She took a D.I.Y. approach and opted for homemade instruments (like soda bottles filled with different amount of liquids and mouth percussion doubled for drums) to create textures in her music. All that and a blend of her love of New Orleans' vintage sounds sets her apart from the current Swedish indie pop acts.
Growing up in a wool spinnery, where her mother taught her the craft of wool spinning, she pushed her craft beyond songwriting and performing music. While mixing her record, she also needle felted 1,500 CD sleeves for her EP. Expect to hear more from
Theresa Andersson as she recently completed her album,
Hummingbird, Go!, due out in September through one of NOLA's finest labels, Basin Street Records.
