In The Attic of The Universe
THE ANTLERS In The Attic of The Universe self Website
About a week ago I received an e-mail from The Antlers announcing his album, In the Attic of the Universe. I have never heard of The Antlers before, so I was happy to find out that it is indeed some good stuff worth checking out. Although, The Antlers set his music to be "on the vein of Arcade Fire and Sigur Ros", some of the songs actually remind me much of Smashing Pumpkins' mellow and acoustic guitar based songs. I have to say this one-person band makes quite wonderful tracks. The composition is pretty nice and while many in similar genre often overused the cinematic elements to create a ceremonial atmosphere, The Antlers did just enough. The acoustic guitar and toy piano sounds really add characters to many of the tracks. Although, Peter Silberman's voice reminds me Jeff Buckley, Antony & The Johnsons, and Judah Nagler of The Velvet Teen, it absolutely plays a big part in setting the album off. I'm expecting to hear more from The Antlers in the future.
