Almost three years ago my friend Uga sent me a CD filled with songs from bands he played drums for (at the time). Included in the same CD about 21 songs listed in a folder named "The Dying Sirens". And what do I know, these are songs he's written, played and recorded on his own. Now I must tell you that my friend here is influenced by different musicians from different genres. It only makes sense that the CD sounds like a compilation of downer songs influenced by many including
Smashing Pumpkins,
Pete Yorn, and
Radiohead.
Now
Uga has recently got together with some other musicians and decided to play these songs live. He also has shrunk the number of songs down to five and released an EP named after the first track,
Kapalku Telah Pergi (English: My Ship Has Departed). This track, too, happened to be my favorite since the day I heard it. Maybe because it sounds less like any of his influences and I feel like this is a direction he could definitely explore and make better. I look forward to hearing the full-length album.
I have been given the permission to exclusively stream these songs here:
