To say that I'm a fan of
Inara George is an under statement. I admired her work with
The Bird and The Bees and tho, I never reviewed her solo debut on this site (it was released long before Sharing Lemons launched),
All Rise was the album that sparked my keenness for her music. I think she has such a unique vocal and definitely knows her genre best. Taking a break from
The Bird and The Bees,
Inara George had recently collaborated with famous composer,
Van Dyke Parks, best known for his work for
Brian Wilson's
SMiLE.
Inspired by the movie
La Vie En Rose, Inara George approached
Van Dyke Parks, who is a closed figure to her family, and asked if he would arrange an orchestra for her. The result is a cross between old Disney cartoons and a quirky theatrical arrangement. Here's a cheesy saying to describe such a wonderful work, they're what people call "a match made in heaven". I absolutely adore "An Invitation" and would recommend it for anyone who is a fan of both pop and orchestral music.
