UPDATE:The album is here! I updated her tour dates below and AOL is streaming the album,
here. It's beautiful, subtle and tear inducing. Listen to the two part as a whole, the first might wreck your emotion, but the second will lift you up triumphantly.

Rachael Yamagata is coming out with a
A Record in Two Parts: Elephants... and Teeth Sinking Into Heart. When discussing her new album, a first in three years after her debut full-length,
Happenstance, she explained that the album wasn't set out to be in two parts but that in the process of writing and recording it all just worked out. She added, "
Elephants is much more intimate. It’s about being willing to take a risk even if it’s not going to end up well.
Teeth... is like rediscovering your backbone after you’ve gone through the loss".
After listening to two songs from the two different parts of the album, while the moods are polar opposites, I think they compliment each other gracefully. There's a certain sincerity that I enjoy coming out of her music and is the reason that I think her fans look forward to her work. I will share my thoughts when the album comes out on October 7, 2008.
