Joseph Arthur is an acclaimed, award-winning artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Discovered by
Peter Gabriel and signed on to his label in the 90s,
Joseph Arthur has been writing and recording music while continuously painting Picasso-esque work ever since. Many of his work, both visual and music, he shares online for free on
his site and is updated constantly.
Working from his art studio called,
the Museum of Modern Arthur, he recorded most of his EPs, including the recently released,
Vagabond Skies. It is the third out of the four EPs he's releasing as a prelude to his full-length due out in September of this year. If you're like me, one who hasn't listened to the previous EPs in the series, I think
Vagabond Skies will only inspire you to seek out the rest. The solemn mood, poetic lyrics and ethereal sounds in reminds me of
The Reindeer Section with a hint of
Wilco. A well-composed, eclectic EP, I look forward to hearing the full-length album.
